A number of my Poms attend the Bridgend & District Kennel Association KC Good Citizens' Classes, where they learn socialisation skills and how to behave well in various everyday public situations. It is an all encompassing training experience for both dog and owner. In addition to the Puppy Foundation Course, there are three levels of training through which the dog can progress: Bronze, Silver and Gold. At each level the various tasks become increasingly challenging, but dogs and handlers progress at a pace which best suits them. Detailed information re the requirements for each level can be downloaded from the UK Kennel club web-site ( click here for a direct link). Below is a photograph of members, instructors, and the examiner ...taken after taking the tests in December 2007 , July 2008 and Feb 2009. Our instructors are Wendy Bebb, Kath Sutton and Ade, who is standing on the right.

Playalong Dancing Wolf
Bronze, Silver and Gold award winner
Below is a video of Wolfie, demonstrating 5 of the main solo elements of the Gold Test, which he is due to take shortly. There are other parts to the test which involve work amongst other dogs and people, and he is very good at those also. Details of the requirements for the Gold test can be obtained from The Kennel Club website (link provided earlier on the page).
Wolfie started classes in October 2007 when he was 4.5 years, basic obedience training being a last resort in an attempt to reform him. The results have been unbelievably successful.
